Through a research project conducted by Dr. Samir Mostafa and lasted more than five years in the period from February 2004 to August 2009 with the purpose of applying and using system thinking in learning and education, by simplify concepts of systems thinking approach and put it in an appropriate framework to be learned easily by students and pupils in different age groups. The project was implemented in stages, each is completed by issuing a theoretical study published in the Journal of Educational Sciences of Cairo University, as well as the design and construction of a research experiment. The experiment was conducted on pupils of one of the primary school in Cairo (carried out by the researcher Mrs. Ghada El Shaar during her doctoral study). The phases of the project can be described as follows
First Stage: establish a theoretical framework for using systemic thinking in teaching and learning
Second Stage: building a new model for the application and use of systemic thinking in education
Third Stage: the design and implementation of a program for the development of systemic thinking skills among students
Fourth Stage: building experiment to use the program on a sample of pupils of a primary school
In the same time, he launched number of studies in re-engineering and systems development using a comprehensive methodology developed by the author and known as the Total Unified methodology (TUM) as presented in this site
